Cross Country Season

Each year TVT compete in the Thames Valley Cross Country League. In 2012/2013 we finished the league in 8th out of 16. Next season we would love to improve again. With a full side out we were finishing higher and competing against much larger running clubs and so we certainly justified our inclusion in the league.

The Thames Valley Cross Country League is based around 8 races held from November to March each year. The winners and runners-up attend the national finals in April. Events are held on Sundays with an 11:00 AM start time – each course is usually a mixture of woodland trails and parkland and is normally about 5 miles in length. Visit the Thames Valley Cross Country League own website for details of the events, directions, results etc.

The philosophy of the TVT team is that this is meant to be fun. So you don’t have to be Mo Farah or Paula Radcliffe to take part. We fully encourage anybody of any ability to take part and to perform to whatever level they wish to. No member of the club is too slow or too fast to run for us and from the social aspect it is most definitely the more people the merrier. The races for many people are a good reason to get out and go for a run during the colder, darker months and where else would you get to practice running in a group situation, away from hard pavements, on quiet trails, with your club colleagues and get fed afterwards all for only £2!

Full league rules are enforced which means that you must wear club kit if you are to score in a race. New members are welcome to join in without club kit but will not score points.
