Paul Weald
British Triathlon Level 1 Coach
Paul Weald discovered the meaning of life when he was 40 by running his first marathon. The following year, in 2003, he moved into Triathlon and has been an active participant in local events since that time. His role as a coach to the junior section at TVT is to help the kids develop the basic techniques of swimming, running, cycling and transition – so that they can compete safely and have fun. Paul’s ambition is to compete over the 2012 London Olympic triathlon course – well at least in the preparatory events that lead up to the games – and to help kids in our area to have that opportunity too!
Nick Babington
British Triathlon Level 2 Coach
After racing motocross then mountain bikes Nick took a complete break from exercise in the late nineties, gained 4 stone in weight and became a complete couch potato. In 2003 he decided enough was enough and completed the London Marathon. One thing lead to another and Nick entered and completed the London Triathlon in the same year. Nick has since completed another marathon and many triathlons across all distances including Ironman UK in 2005 and Ironman Germany in 2006.
At the age of 8 Nick’s son James also became interested in the sport and with the help of his father won the South East Junior Championship in 2005. Having helped his son Nick took an interest in coaching and was one of the founding members of TVT’s new junior section in 2006. Nick has recently furthered his coaching qualifications and looks forward to helping more juniors enter this exciting sport in the coming years. Nick will also be helping the senior section as and when needed.
