Please arrive at least 10 minutes before the training session starts. Late arrivals disrupt the flow of the session as they miss the introduction and explanation of the session causing confusion and delays. It will be at the discretion of the Head Coach whether to allow entry to the session. Please avoid putting the coach in this uncomfortable situation and disappointing your child.

Swim Plus Sessions

Tuesdays: Reading Blue Coats School Pool 8pm – 9pm.

Thursdays: Bulmershe Pool 8pm – 9pm.

These sessions are aimed at members looking to develop their swim technique and stamina. They are only suitable for those able to swim 200m continually, Tristar 2 or above. They are offered to those who do not already swim several times weekly with a swim club.

The sessions will be taken by an experienced swim teacher who has been coaching triathletes for a number of years.

Parents are required to stay. They can wait in the viewing area.

Advanced Bike Track sessions

These will be additional track sessions to our normal Sunday ones. They will be led by Club head coach, Derek. These will be development sessions for competent riders focusing on group riding techniques and increase in pace & stamina. These sessions are best suited to those with good cycling stamina already, Tristar 2 and above.

Multi Sport Series

There are 10 regional events to choose from in the Multi Sport series.
The best 4 events can count towards the series. These must comprise of 2 triathlon events, plus two other multi sports event. Please NOTE: due to the late date of the Doreny Super Tri, the popular event has been added to the multi sports schedule and will not count towards the Triathlon series which would have finished by that date. If a suitable event becomes available late session other events may be added to the series .

Triathlon Series.

There are 6 events in the Triathlon Series. The best 3 events count towards series.
This must include the Eaton Dorney Steel event as a compulsory race for T2 and T3’s only.

Points are calculated based on the winning time with the winner receiving 10000 points.
Subsequent results are calculated by dividing the winning time by the recorded time for all other athletes and multiplying the result by 10000 (eg winner 18mins 10000pts, 2nd 18 minutes 36 would receive 9677 points 18 mins divided by 18m 36s x 10000=9677).

The series results will be coordinated and calculated by the Junior Coordinator. The results will be published on the regional website.

Prizes for the top 3 male and female in each age group will be awarded at the end of the series

Series Rules

The Series is open to anyone who is a member of a Region club, resides or goes to school in the region.

Some individuals will have eligibility for the Series for more than one regions – if you are then you need to decide which Region’s Series you are contesting as you are only eligible for one.

  • If you are a member of the Triathlon England, then this will the Region that you registered as your ‘Home’ region.
  • If you are not a member of Triathlon England and may be eligible to contest more than one  series then you need to decide and declare by email to the Series coordinator the region that you intend to contest before the Series starts; failure to do so may result in exclusion from the South Central Regional Series, if you are found to subsequently contesting in the series of another region  you will be withdrawn from the series.

(This decision is obviously not applicable to athletes who are only eligible to compete in South Central Series).

It is not necessary to be a member of a triathlon club or Triathlon England to participate in the Series.

There is no requirement to register to be included in the Series – the series coordinator will compile based on the results of the races.

IRC Selection 2016

The IRC Team is made up of 3 girls and 3 boys in each of the Tristar 2 and Tristar 3 age groups, a total of 12 athletes. To be eligible for selection to the IRC Team athletes must be members of Triathlon England and registered to represent South Central Region.  You must compete 3 out of 7 series event with Eaton Dorney  Steelman being compulsory. Multi sport events in the series with not count towards IRC selection, however an open-water event are changed to a Duathlon these can be taken into consideration.

Now that the IRC is a high performance open water /bike drafting  legal format we will allow results from non TESC events. If you wish to compete in an event outside of the SC region including oversea that follows the same format you can send you result to the region committee as evidence as high performance .  You must finish in the top 50% of the field and supply your finishing time / including all split, as well as the time and splits of the top ten in your age group.

The winner  from each age group in the regional series will be automatically selected. The second and third Athlete for each age category, boys & girls, will be selected by the Selection Panel using the following criteria:

  • The results from the Junior Series (but will not be the only criteria)
  • Result and performance  at the  Eaton Dorney Steelman Event (compulsory event, you must cross the start line)
  • The known abilities of the athletes based on their performance and evidence provided
  • Potential results from any race DNF due to mechanical failure or other problem (you must cross the start line)
  • Performance during IRC squad selection / training days. up-to 10 from each age group / by invitation only)

It is intended to announce the IRC selection squad within 5 working days following the final Event. This decision will be final. These squad members will be invited a selection / training day / days prior to selection of the final team of 12 athletes.

If any selected athlete is unable to take up their place for whatever reason the IRC Team Manager will be responsible for identifying the replacement athletes using the above criteria.

Inter Regional Championships 2016 Strathclyde Park Glasgow Scotland 3rd / 4th Sept 2016

Strathclyde Park being the chosen venue for the 2016 Under 20s Festival which includes the IRC.
We are very excited about attending this event to such an iconic triathlon location after the success of Glasgow 2014 Common Wealth Games. This will be a great opportunity for our region’s athletes to race on a course with such history.

The weekend for the event will be 3rd and 4th September 2016. Whilst we don’t have a schedule for the weekend as of yet, it will largely follow the format of previous years with registration and course familiarisation being on the Saturday with a full days racing on the Sunday.

The region will attempt to book a team hotel close to the race location, but you do not have to take the accommodation offered and make you own arrangements. You will be expected to make your own way to and from the event at you own cost. There will be limited subsidisation for TESC committee towards travel or accommodation
